Hands in Service is excited to host their 4th Annual “A Magical Night of Laughter – Love Gives Back Campaign” at the KLO Theatre Okanagan College Saturday, February 17th, 2018!  This much-enjoyed fundraising event will feature 2 winning performers: Internationally acclaimed Comedian Tim Nutt and the magical talents of Leif David. 

Hands in Service is a non-profit organization that provides free, compassionate and relational, non-medical home care, referral services and food security assistance through individuals, groups, businesses, and churches to vulnerable clients struggling with disability, illness, and financial and social limitations. 

These services are made possible through the generosity of volunteers - whether it’s delivering a food hamper, preparing a meal, or vacuuming the carpet.

Hands in Service believes that these simple tasks can affirm the dignity of clients; seeking to come alongside them in the face of isolation, struggle or loneliness. We often don’t realize how much even a brief moment together means to someone feeling anonymous or insignificant.

The Magical Night of Laughter is presented by the Hand in Service Love· Gives · Back campaign.  Through deepening of relationships with clients and community partners, Hands in Service has created Living Salads – the Portable Community Garden project to assist “at risk” adults and children who are not receiving enough nutritious food. This year, 325 free planters will be assembled – complete with lettuce, swiss chard, tomatoes, parsley, garlic chives and marigolds - that will replenish throughout the season of May-October. These planters will be distributed to low income, health and mobility challenged clients from West Kelowna to Lake Country including recipients from Hands in Service, Central Okanagan Foodbank, SD23 Food for Thought students and Kelowna Community Resource programs, Single Moms & Family Friends.  

These planters can provide hundreds of dollars in nutritious tomatoes and greens – supplying recipients with not only a source of healthy food but also a gift that can affirm that they are a valued and cared for part of our community.
