West Kelowna Mayor Doug Findlater moved to the area in 1975 and lives with his wife Willie in the same home they bought in 1976. They have raised two sons, and prior to local politics, he had a career with the federal government lasting 34 years. In 2007 he was elected as the top polling Councillor for the new municipality’s first council, ran for mayor in 2008, and is still the mayor in his third four-year term.
